Iranian President Reiterates Support for Syria’s Independence and Territorial Integrity

Iran (IMNA) – Raeisi’s message was sent on the occasion of Syria’s national day, and he emphasized the importance of using the two countries’ capacities and capabilities to develop comprehensive ties and promote regional cooperation for the purpose of expanding peace, stability, and development in the region.

The US deployed forces and military equipment in Syria in 2014 under the pretext of fighting the Daesh terrorist group. However, American forces have sustained their illegal presence on Syrian soil, despite Damascus and its allies defeating Daesh in late 2019. Syria maintains that the deployment is meant to plunder the country’s natural resources.
