Tehran (ISNA) – Referring to the problem of water scarcity as a common problem of the countries of the region, Iran’s President said, “If the countries of the region had constructive cooperation and interaction in this field, similar to the exemplary cooperation of Iran and Turkmenistan to manage the issue of shared waters by building a friendship dam, the problems in this field would be reduced”.

Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, during the visit of the Chairman of the People’s Expediency Council of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, said that the relations between the two countries are based on deep cultural commonalities, saying, “Cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat has enjoyed significant growth in the last two years, when the Islamic Republic of Iran government has been determined to strengthen neighbourly relations”.

Referring to the problem of water scarcity as a common problem of the countries of the region, the President said, “If the countries of the region had constructive cooperation and interaction in this field, similar to the exemplary cooperation of Iran and Turkmenistan to manage the issue of shared waters by building a friendship dam, the problems in this field would be reduced”.

The President added, “We firmly believe that an important part of the region’s problems, including the lack of serious cooperation in various issues, is due to the presence of outsiders.
